Dreaming of a château wedding in the South of France? That’s what H&A did for their big day! They decided to get married in a lovely château, only a couple of hours away from the beautiful city of Toulouse. Indeed, I was their wedding planner, coordinated this lovely event and can’t wait to tell you all about it!
The Château de Poudenas in the South of France
A château wedding in the South of France : the perfect location
H&A are an american-french couple who wanted a château wedding in the South of France. They chose the Château de Poudenas for their venue, ideally situated between Toulouse and Bordeaux, in the Lot et Garonne. In fact, this region is very popular with weddings as the scenery is amazing, and it is much cheaper than getting married in spots that attract a lot of tourists, such as the Côte d’Azur.
It’s also easy to access and the venue provides accomodation for most of your guests!
Beautiful château photos for your wedding
It has several beautiful spots for a secular ceremony, bride and groom photos and the wedding dinner. There is a courtyard, a front lawn, a garden at the back with a gorgeous view of the castle and several beautifully decorated rooms. This means you won’t need to invest so much in flowers and decor, as the venue is already amazing on its own! Budget can be important when you’re organising your dream château wedding in the South of France.
A schedule for your dream wedding in the South of France
The ceremony in front of the château
Firstly, our bride and groom started the day with some couple photos taken all around the château. They decided to have a private first look, and share a moment for just the two of them.
After welcoming the guests, they had a secular ceremony on the front lawn, officiated by one of their friends. They decided to have it outside, surrounded by the beautiful view and castle grounds. The weather was perfect, even for the end of September, as it tends to still be warm in the South of France, until October.
The wedding dinner
They followed the ceremony with a champagne tower, then cocktails and canapés on the château balcony and in the salon. They had a saxophone player, as well as a DJ, for a lovely cocktail ambiance. During this time, the bride and groom had their group photos with their closest friends and family.
After the cocktail, the guests headed into the old château stables where dinner was being served. The high arched ceiling and stone walls made the room look beautiful. H&A decided to add draping and candles which gave the dinner a very elegant touch.
The party in the château
After dinner, everyone went outside, to the château courtyard, for dessert and champagne. H&A had a beautiful vintage cake and had a buffet of smaller desserts, champagne and coffee. After cutting the cake, the bride and groom headed into one the salons for their first dance. They were surrounded by their loved ones, who then joined in and danced with them. They served late night snacks and the party went on until quite late in the evening. For a château wedding in the South of France, the party can easily keep going until 4 or 5 am, if not later!
No matter what you have planned for your wedding, consider having it in the South of France. Toulouse and its surrounding region have so much to offer, and amazing wedding vendors. Contrary to what you might believe, you can plan a gorgeous château wedding in the South of France wthout breaking your budget.
